Job description

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will function as an independent healthcare provider working collaboratively with physicians and other members of a multidisciplinary health care team, to provide comprehensive care in a variety of settings (primary, acute, specialty) while demonstrating a high degree of clinical expertise. Provides direct individualized patient care and treatment with responsibility for assessing, examining, diagnosing and analyzing the patient's current health condition and developing short and long-term goals and treatment plans. Functions within the defined scope of clinical practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, certification, regulations, institutional policy and practice agreements.

nMinimum Qualifications:

nnnMaster’s Degree in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Practice Degree

n

nnGraduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program in specialty

n

nnMontana Licensure (APRN) with Prescriptive Authority

n

nnMontana Licensure (Registered Nurse)

n

nnDEA License if applicable to practice area

n

nnNational board certification as NP in applicable specialty

n

nnAmerican Heart Association BLS

n

nnTwo years of Registered Nurse Experience

n

nnPreferred: Additional training or certification in relevant specialty

n

nnPreferred: 2 years of Nurse Practitioner experience in relevant specialty

n

n nEssential Job Functions:

nIn addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements.

nnnProvides quality, efficient and effective evidence based patient care, consultation as requested, advisement and/or initiation of treatment plans while following standard of care within specialty scope of practice.

n

nnDirects patient care by examining, diagnosing and analyzing the patient's current health condition, performing comprehensive admission history and physical exams, consultative notes, admission and discharge summaries, progress notes, writing orders and prescriptions and performing and or assisting with procedures and providing assistance with operative cases per defined scope of practice for specialty area.

n

nnFinancially responsible for all aspects relating to transcription/coding.

n

nnParticipates in quality/performance initiatives, research activities, education, the development of policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines as indicated while evaluating and implements the standards of care within the area of specialization.

nSchedule Requirements

n• This role requires regular and sustained attendance.

n• The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

n• On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.

nTwist/Bend/Stoop/Kneel (Repeatedly): Twisting, bending, and stooping require flexibility and a wide range of motion in the spine and joints.

nReach Above Shoulder Level (Repeatedly): Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects as necessary above the shoulder, requiring strength and stability.

nPush/Pull (Repeatedly): Using the upper extremities to press or exert force against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.

nFine-Finger Movements (Continuously): Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than using the whole hand as in handling.

nVision (Continuously): Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures and to read computer screens, printed materials, and handwritten materials.

nCognitive Skills (Continuously): Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions in the context of a workflow.

nExposures (Continuously): Bloodborne pathogens, such as blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Radiation in settings where medical imaging procedures are performed. Various chemicals and medications are used in healthcare settings. Job tasks may involve handling cleaning products, disinfectants, and other substances. Infectious diseases are caused by contact with patients in areas that may have contagious illnesses. Emotionally challenging situations, such as dealing with distressed patients or difficult family interactions.
