Job Description
Lead Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in Family Medicine – Full-Time
This is a full-time, internal-only position for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to serve as the lead APP in our Family Medicine department. You will work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with scheduled monthly on-call responsibilities (no weekend coverage required).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and supervise inpatient family medicine operations, currently managing 140 patients with anticipated growth to 164 patients by Q4 2026
Provide direct clinical care to inpatients with a focus on behavioral health patients
Develop and implement clinical protocols and best practices for the inpatient family medicine team
Mentor and support other Advanced Practice Providers and clinical staff
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including behavioral health specialists, physicians, and nursing staff
Manage patient caseloads, conduct patient assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning
Participate in scheduled monthly on-call coverage as needed
Maintain comprehensive patient documentation and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and departmental goals
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Internal APP of Henry Ford Health, in good standing
Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Minimum 2 years of experience in inpatient behavioral health settings (preferred)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license
