Job TitleMed Surg Care Unit 4E Blodgett - Grand Rapids HospJob Description4E is a 24 bed Med/Surg unit at Blodgett Hospital that cares for the general medical and surgical patients. Employees are often drawn to 4E for the variety of patients and the team environment. Our staff become competent in caring for a large array of both surgical and medical patients. Specifically, our team is known as being experts in nasogastric tubes, urinary catheters, and urologic care, managing enteral and parenteral feeding, and managing the care of wounds, ostomies, tubes and drains.Blodgett is an ever-growing, 330-bed acute care teaching hospital located in East Grand Rapids. Originally founded in 1846, Blodgett has continued to grow and evolve to meet the needs of the community. As a Level III trauma campus with a large annual surgical volume, we are equipped to care for a wide range of acute care patients. We offer numerous specialty units that provide care unique to Blodgett in Grand Rapids, including Total Joint Replacement, a Primary Stroke Center, Acute Care of the Elderly, and Bariatric Surgery. With units ranging from 20 to 24 beds, we foster close-knit teams while still providing highly specialized acute care. Our inpatient nursing units also partner with our discharge lounge and virtual nursing teams housed at Blodgett, as well as 24/7 hospital supervisor and security support. Recently, we welcomed external partner sites for Meijer Pharmacy and Starbucks. This fall, we will also offer on-site parking to all team members. Together, these resources and partnerships create a supportive environment where team members can thrive while delivering exceptional patient care.Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider. Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.
