Job Title: Nursing Shift Supervisor

Department: Nursing Leadership

Location: Newark Wayne Hospital

Hours Per Week: 36

Schedule: Day/Evening/Night

SUMMARY:

The Nursing Shift Supervisor is a Nursing Leader who serves as a resource for problem solving, provides clinical expertise, facilitates staff mentoring and coaching, facilitates patient flow during the off shifts (typically, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provides on-site leadership and oversight during off-shifts in hospital or long-term care settings, managing patient care delivery, staffing, and emergent situations in the absence of onsite management.

* Supports staff through clinical problem-solving, mentoring, coaching, and reinforcing hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

* Rounds on patients with concerns, admitted Emergency Department patients, and actively facilitates patient flow and decision-making in collaboration with the care team.

* Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive care, while advocating for patient rights and shared decision-making.

* Ensures appropriate documentation and communication of shift occurrences, safety concerns, and staffing adjustments; serves as liaison across departments and with leadership.

* Maintains required education, participates in leadership development, ensures fiscal responsibility, and engages in community and professional healthcare activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Associate's Degree in Nursing required.

* Current New York State Registered Nurse License

* Effective 1/1/2014, BLS required for all new candidates prior to hire

* BLS required for all internal team members by 12/31/2014

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's Degree preferred

EDUCATION: BS: Nursing

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)New York State Education Department (NYSED)New York State Education Department (NYSED)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
