Join our team as a Nursing Station Technician at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital! Located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, we deliver a broad range of pediatric programs from surgery, imaging and neonatal and pediatric intensive care. Candidates with experience may be brought in at a higher rate of pay.This position will be working a 0.6 FE (48 hours every two weeks) on the evening shift, variable 8 hour shifts, every other weekend.About this Role: The NST is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties.In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, collaboration and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. The NST will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. Other job duties include:Assists the professional caregiver in the delivery of patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feedingTransporting patient and/or equipment1:1 sitting with patientsSetting up and maintaining patient roomsReordering, and stocking suppliesAnswering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering testsQualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities:Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack programAND ONE or more of the following:Prefer experience with childrenSuccessful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the programCurrent certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.
