Join our team as a Nursing Station Technician at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital!Located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, we deliver a broad range of pediatric programs from surgery, imaging and neonatal and pediatric intensive care to cardiac and oncology (cancer care) services and blood and marrow and organ transplantation.Our compassionate, innovative approach has repeatedly received national recognition. We are proud to be the only academic children's hospital in Minnesota, providing medical services in more than 50 specialty areas.This position will be working 56 hours every two weeks on the evening shift, 8 hours shifts and every other weekend.The Nursing Station Technician in the Pediatric CVICU is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties.In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, collaboration and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. Other job duties include:Patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feedingMaintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering testsSetting up and maintaining patient roomsOrdering and stocking of suppliesRequiredLicense/Certification/RegistrationBasic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants are required to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack programAND ONE or more of the following:Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.ORSix months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)ORCurrent enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the programORCurrent certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position
