Per Diem OB Hospitalist – San Diego, CA
Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns is Southern California’s only standalone women’s hospital. The position is at its 206‑bed, not‑for‑profit facility, which delivers more than 9,000 babies per year.
Key Details
Shift rate: $2,500 per 12‑hour shift
Shift times: 7:00 pm–7:00 am; optional clinic shifts 8:00 am–5:00 pm
Paid malpractice and tail coverage
Full specialty back‑up including 24‑hour perinatal and GYN/ONC service with dedicated OB anesthesia
On‑site overnight provider room
Responsibilities
Cover a busy labor & delivery unit, triage, postpartum, and ED calls
Perform occasional GYN emergency surgery (ectopic)
Collaborate with experienced CNMs; backup physicians are always available
Requirements
Board certification in OB‑GYN
Minimum 3 years’ experience covering L&D; 5 years preferred
Ability to receive privileges for basic laparoscopy, including management of ectopic pregnancies (must have completed 10 cases in the last 2 years)
Must be able to obtain hospital privileges
