Locum Tenens Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician Job in Des Moines, Iowa Experienced OB/GYN physicians seeking locum tenens jobs in Iowa can join a high-volume hospitalist team in Des Moines, Iowa 50314, a welcoming and convenient metro area with a vibrant downtown, local dining, and easy access to parks and riverfront recreation. Job Details Estimated Weekly Pay: $6,290 - $7,450 Location: Des Moines, Iowa 50314 Employment Type: Locum tenens Setting: Hospital-based OB/GYN hospitalist coverage Schedule: 24-hour in-house call coverage, 7a-7a Shift Duration: 12-hour days listed in source; coverage includes 24-hour in-house call Hours Per Week: 36 Duration: 13 weeks Start Date: ASAP EMR: Epic Job Requirements Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology; board eligible candidates may be considered Active Iowa medical license, active IMLC, or ability to obtain licensure for future coverage dates Minimum 1 year of experience in OB/GYN hospitalist, labor and delivery, or a similar obstetric setting Experience managing labor, deliveries, obstetric emergencies, and high-acuity patients Comfort with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, VBACs, twin deliveries, and fetal monitoring Strong communication skills for coordinating care, handoffs, and consults Proficiency with documentation and order entry in Epic Ability to work independently as the sole OB physician on site during assigned shifts Responsibilities Provide rapid assessment and management for patients presenting to the OB emergency department Manage labor, deliveries, and emergent obstetric cases, including vaginal and cesarean births Deliver comprehensive antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care for unassigned and transfer patients Coordinate admissions, transfers, and peer-to-peer communication for high-acuity obstetric cases Serve as the clinical lead during obstetric emergencies and rapid response events Support labor and delivery with fetal monitoring, procedures, delivery assistance, and consults Collaborate with residents and medical students to support safe, efficient patient care Maintain accurate documentation and timely order entry in Epic Apply now to join this Des Moines OB/GYN locum tenens opportunity and provide high-quality women's health coverage in a respected Iowa healthcare setting.
