Job description
Job Title: OB/GYN Physician
Specialty: Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN)
Place of Work (City/State): Indian Health Service (IHS) Shiprock, New Mexico
Duration: Base 1 year plus extension
Start Date: Nov 2026
Shift Schedule:
Regular Clinic Hours: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
Weekday Night Call: 4:30 PM 8:00 AM
Weekend Call: 24-hour coverage
On-Call Rotation: Approximately 1 in 3 or 1 in 4
How Many Shifts Needed per Month: Based on facility scheduling and coverage requirements
License: Active, unrestricted medical license from any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia
Certifications: Board Eligible (BE) or Board Certified (BC) in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Experience Needed: Prior OB/GYN experience with both inpatient and outpatient clinical services preferred
Special Skills Needed:
Must be able to perform Cesarean sections (C-sections)
Experience providing both inpatient and outpatient OB/GYN services
Ability to provide on-call coverage
Both inpatient and outpatient clinic.
Credentialing / Onboarding Time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient OB/GYN services.
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage obstetric and gynecological conditions.
Perform C-sections and other procedures within the physician's scope of practice.
Provide scheduled clinic coverage and participate in the required on-call rotation.
Maintain accurate patient documentation and comply with IHS clinical policies and procedures.
Misc:
Position supports IHS Shiprock, NM and requires both inpatient and outpatient coverage, including scheduled call responsibilities.
