We are currently seeking a Occupational Safety & Health Nurse to support our SOS Contract in Pittsburgh PA.

nJob Description :

nIn a small team environment, the nurse assists in the day-to-day operations of the Occupational Health Unit (OHU), including but not limited to:

nnnOccupational and non-occupational patient evaluation and care, performing screening occupational health tests listed below, and evaluating test results.

n

nnEnsures testing performance is in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, plans, policies and procedures.

n

nnEnsures medical testing results are entered into the medical database as well as providing hard copy results to employees as requested by DOE and the employee after the doctor reviews results.

n

nnAssists in assessment of programs in terms of regulatory compliance and best medical practices.

n

nnPreparing reports as requested, make recommendations for improvements. Keeps abreast of current developments in occupational health issues and associated laws and regulations.

n

nnUnder physician direction, provides phlebotomy services, administers immunizations and over the counter medications, performs testing such as vision testing, pulmonary function (PFT/spirometry), EKG, UA by dipstick and audiograms when needed for clearances.

n

nnIn a team effort, determines employees needing entry into various health programs (hearing, respirator, medical surveillance, etc).

n

nnDocument employee visits, injuries, illnesses and treatment administered by first aid and/or medical referral necessary in the medical record and database.

n

nnEnsures that testing is performed correctly, and results appropriately documented, reports injuries as required by the company, State and Federal regulations.

n

nnManages workers' compensation cases and maintains workers' compensation case files as appropriate and in accordance with the pertinent laws and regulations. Participates in, conducts and documents periodic health inspections.

n

nnEnsures that appropriate information is provided to the employer/supervisor about medical restrictions without violating employee privacy/Health Information Portability and Privacy Act (HIPPA) requirements.

n

nnRefers employees for ergonomic evaluations, participates in emergency response drills and ensures the quality of program response.

n

nnParticipates in employee training; CPR/AED/FA training as appropriate.

n

nnProvides consultations, wellness education, site tours and referrals and performs any milestones as requested by DOE.

n

n nRequired Qualifications

nnnMust be a US Citizen

n

nnMinimum of 5-10 years as a Registered Nurse in a medical facility. Must have and maintain all credentialing and state licensure requirements.

n

nnBachelor of Science, Nursing (BSN) with current WV or PA state RN licensure required,

n

nnBLS certification required

n

n nPreferred Qualifications:

nnnOccupational Health experience is strongly preferred.

n

nnExperience with Workers' Compensation program case management preferred.

n

nnDual licensure in WV and PA a plus.,

n

nnACLS and AHA BLS instructor a plus,

n

nnCertified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist (COHN-S) desired.
