Job description
Occupational Therapist AssistantThe Occupational Therapist Assistant is responsible for the implementation of a treatment plan addressing the functional needs of a variety of patient diagnoses.SCHEDULE: PRN SHIFT: 1 Weekend day per monthEssential Duties And ResponsibilitiesIntegrates subjective and objective data to follow an established treatment plan.Utilizes exercise, physical agents, and manual techniques to address deficits.Maintains a thorough record of services provided with appropriate coding and billing.Communicates with other disciplines and referring providers to enhance outcomes.Performs thorough and timely electronic documentationStrengths in care delivery as evidenced by peer review feedback; consistently demonstrates advanced evaluation and treatment techniquesParticipates actively in the PI and CQI processAssists in the orientation, training and mentoring of new partnersParticipates in cost saving initiatives within the departmentTakes an active role in the performance improvement processMaintain a high standard of patient care and provide effective communication between occupational therapists, assistants and the physician groupPlans and conducts lectures and training programs on occupational therapy and related topics for medical staff, students and community groups.Education & ExperienceGraduate of an accredited school program for Occupational Therapy AssistantsCertification/LicensureLicensed as an occupational therapist assistant (COTA) in WI, IL or both if requiredApproved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 daysAdditional RequirementsPassing the Driver's License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.Work EnvironmentThe noise level in the work environment is usually quietOccupational Exposure: Category A - All partners in the specified job classification have occupational exposure.Information AccessPartner may access patient care information needed to perform their job duties.Work Contact GroupPartners, physicians, patients/family, visitors, vendorsSpecial Physical DemandsStand – Frequently or condition exists up to 1/3 - 2/3 of the timeWalk – Frequently or condition exists up to 1/3 - 2/3 of the timeSit – Occasionally or condition exists up to 1/3 of the timeHandling/Fingering/Feeling – Frequently or condition exists up to 1/3 - 2/3 of the timeReaching – Frequently or condition exists up to 1/3 - 2/3 of the timeClimb/Balance – Occasionally or condition exists up to 1/3 of the timeStoop/Kneel/Crouch/Crawl – Occasionally or condition exists up to 1/3 of the timeTalk/Hear – Frequently or condition exists up to 1/3 - 2/3 of the timeTaste/Smell – Not a present activityStrength – Medium work exerting 25-50 pounds of force occasionally or 10-25 pounds of force frequentlyClose Vision – Frequently or condition exists up to 1/3 - 2/3 of the timeDistance Vision – Occasionally or condition exists up to 1/3 of the timeColor Vision – Occasionally or condition exists up to 1/3 of the timePeripheral Vision – Occasionally or condition exists up to 1/3 of the timeDepth Perception – Frequently or condition exists up to 1/3 - 2/3 of the timeAbility to Adjust Focus – Frequently or condition exists up to 1/3 - 2/3 of the timeLevel Of SupervisionSome independent judgement is required, based upon scope of practice and within professional standards.Pay Range: $32.00 - $32.00Mercyhealth is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
