n nSummary
nSUMMARY: Under direction, provides occupational therapy services in a rehabilitation program for the physically disabled and emotionally ill persons in the Alameda Health System facilities. Assists in the development of special techniques and equipment. Performs related duties as required.
nDUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
nnnAttends and participates in staff conferences and training sessions.
n
nnAttends rehabilitation conferences and discusses the status and progress of rehabilitation patients with physicians and personnel of other disciplines involved, such as physical therapy, nursing, and psychology; keeps records and makes reports of treatment, progress and psychological attitude of patients; coordinates activity with other services involved in patient care.

nnConfers with supervisor regarding problems and progress in assigned cases.
n
nnInterviews the patient and administers the appropriate tests and/or evaluations to assess physical and/or psycho-social dysfunction. These evaluations may include but are not limited to: range of motion, muscle testing, sensory integration, perceptual abilities, coordination, activities of daily living, pre-vocational, home evaluation, equipment needs, feeding and pre-feeding evaluations, and interpersonal relationship skills.

nnMay instruct and supervise student occupational therapists assigned for training, C.O.T.A.'s and Occupational Therapy Aides assigned to assist in the program.

nnPlans an appropriate treatment program utilizing selected methods to achieve the desired treatment objectives and goals for patient rehabilitation. These methods may include but are not limited to: therapeutic exercises and functional activities to promote muscle return, sensory re-education, muscle facilitation, perceptual-motor integration, activities of daily living and transfer training, prosthetic training of the upper extremity, orthotic and adaptive equipment fabrication, and community re-orientation.

nnReviews referrals by physician to note diagnoses, cautions, treatment ordered and results desired.

n nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
nEducation: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree, certification or Master's Degree from an approved school of occupational therapy.
nMinimum Experience: Entry-level position; prior experience in an intern or sub-professional capacity preferred.
nRequired Licenses/Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support Certification issued by the American Heart Association. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
nRequired Licenses/Certifications: CPI -Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (required for all positions at John George Psychiatric Pavilion; and certain positions in the Emergency Department).
nRequired Licenses/Certifications: Current Licensure with the California Board of Occupational Therapy as an Occupational Therapist.
nPay: $73.51 / Hour
nThe pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
