nAs a full time NICU Occupational Therapist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California you will assist evaluating and treating patients in accordance with the prescription of the physician. The Occupational NICU Therapist will assist in the continuous quality improvement process and in the education and training of students and assists in divisional growth and cohesiveness to ensure a high quality of therapy care. The Therapist will assist in delivering patient care consistent with Scope of Standards and Code of Ethics; the Plan for the Provision of Care to Patients, the Plan for Corporate Compliance, the Performance Improvement Plan and Patient Education Plan. Competency skills include the ability to deliver care maintaining safety of the environment, applying appropriate communication with sensitivity and attention to special populations, including patient with diverse cultural backgrounds, age, developmental issues and physical disabilities.

nQualifications
nEducational Requirements:
nnnGraduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program - Bachelors minimum
n
nnMaster's Degree Graduate of an accreditied Occupational program- Preferred
n
nnDoctorate Degree Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program- Preferred
n
n nLicenses & Certification:
nnnPossess a current and valid Occupational Therapy License per California State requirements
n
nnCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
n
n nWhat else are we looking for?
nnn3 years experience as a practicing therapist and evidence of ability to perform at this level. 1 year experience in the current or similar practice setting in which the individual will be working as a therapist - NICU.
n
nnGood knowledge of assessment and intervention in a medical and physical disabilities setting.
n
nnAbility to address both development and feeding/eating/swallowing in neonates.
n
nnPreference given to individuals with experience with complex neonates (i.e. ELBW).
n
nnPreference given to individuals with Advanced Practice in Swallowing Assessment, Evaluation, and Intervention.
n
n nPhysical Demands:
nnnAble to push, pull, lift or carry 0-35 pounds on an intermittent basis.
n
nnAble to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat consistently in order to safely administer manual exercises and techniques.
n
nnAble to assist patient with physical activities such as transfers, bed mobility, and ambulation.
