Job description
Seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to step into a contract position covering a maternity leave for a K-12 district near Ashland, VA. This is a temporary, full-time role with flexible scheduling options-workdays and hours can be tailored to your needs, with the main assignment running from ASAP through October 23rd. You will play a vital role in supporting students' access to education and fostering independence, working closely with teachers, families, and other school professionals.
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive occupational therapy services to K-12 students in a school-based environment
Conduct evaluations to determine student needs and collaborate on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Develop and implement intervention plans that promote fine motor skills, sensory processing, and functional independence within the school and home settings
Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to facilitate student access to curriculum and classroom activities
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with school district and legal guidelines
Participate in IEP meetings, staff discussions, and workshops as needed
Preferred Credentials and Experience: Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
Valid OT license for the state of Virginia (or eligibility for licensure)
Previous experience working in school settings and/or pediatric home health highly valued
Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Ability to tailor interventions and work flexibly within diverse educational settings
The assignment aligns with the school calendar, generally following Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, while allowing flexibility to accommodate personal needs and commitments.
