Job description
Occupational Therapist School Setting in Negaunee, MI
Make a meaningful impact by providing occupational therapy services to students in an educational setting near Negaunee, MI. This contract position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with other professionals and families, supporting learners as they achieve their fullest potential.
Qualifications and Experience:
Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
Valid state OT license (or eligibility to obtain)
Previous experience working in school-based settings preferred
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proficiency with developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Ability to work well autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Passion for fostering independence and participation for students with a range of abilities
Key Responsibilities:
Assess students needs and develop individualized treatment plans to address fine motor, sensory, self-care, and functional skills
Work alongside teachers, parents, and support staff to integrate therapeutic strategies into classroom routines
Maintain clear and thorough documentation on student progress in accordance with school and state requirements
Participate in IEP meetings, sharing insights and recommendations to optimize student outcomes
Provide direct therapy services as well as consultation and training for staff and families
Adapt equipment, modify environments, and recommend tools that enhance student participation in school activities
