Job description
Occupational Therapy AssistantThe Center for Disabilities & Development is seeking a full-time Occupational Therapy Assistant on day shift. This position will perform prescribed rehabilitation treatments according to established guidelines and protocols. Assignments are coordinated by an Occupational Therapist. Treatment is carried out independently by the Rehabilitation Assistant under general supervision.Responsibilities include:Independently carry out treatment plans in consultation with an occupational therapistExecute treatments designed to improve patients' functional capabilitiesInstruct patients in exercise performance and training techniquesAssure patient safety at all times during rehabilitation sessionsContinuously evaluate the patients' response to rehabilitation interventions and independently implement treatment modifications as needed which may also include necessary adjustments to equipment to promote maximum safety, comfort and effectivenessRequired Qualifications:An Associate Arts degree from an accredited Occupational or Physical Therapy Assistant program or completion of the requirements leading to educational exemption as defined by the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners is required.Licensure in accord with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners is required.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.Desired Qualification:Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).Application Process:In order to be considered, applicants must upload a resume (under required materials).
