nJob Overview
nWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic services that help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities. This role is essential in various settings, including acute care, outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, and home health environments.
nDuties
nnAssist Occupational Therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
nProvide direct patient care by guiding patients through therapeutic exercises and activities.
nMonitor patient progress and document changes in their condition or response to treatment.
nEducate patients and their families about treatment plans, exercises, and strategies for improving daily living skills.
nMaintain accurate records of patient care and progress in accordance with regulatory standards.
nCollaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
nActively lead exercise classes, participate in community events, and work collaboratively with community personnel
nUtilize medical terminology effectively when communicating with team members and documenting patient interactions.
n nSkills
nnStrong knowledge of medical terminology related to occupational therapy practices.
nExperience in acute care, outpatient, inpatient, clinic, or home health settings is highly desirable.
nProficient in assisting patients with various therapeutic exercises and activities.
nUnderstanding of physiology and its application in rehabilitation processes.
nAbility to provide compassionate patient care while maintaining professionalism.
nExcellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
nFamiliarity with medical imaging techniques as they relate to occupational therapy is a plus.
n nRequirements
nnValid Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state of Florida.
nExperience in a skilled nursing facility, acute care, or home health setting preferred.
nKnowledge of physiology and medical terminology essential for effective patient care.
nFamiliarity with working with individuals with disabilities, including autism.
nStrong communication skills for effective collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
nAbility to perform discharge planning effectively to ensure continuity of care.
