About ARI Shipping
ARI Shipping is an established international freight forwarder with approximately 40 years in business. We specialize in providing high-touch, personalized service for customers moving international freight, including boats, agricultural and forestry machinery, heavy equipment, project cargo, and other specialized shipments.
We are looking for an experienced Ocean Export Coordinator to join our ocean operations team. This is a hands-on, A-to-Z operations position for someone who understands freight forwarding, communicates exceptionally well, stays organized, and can independently manage customer accounts and complex shipments.
What You’ll Do
Coordinate ocean export shipments and support cargo movement from initial customer requirements through completion.
Manage RO/RO, breakbulk, project cargo, and other ocean export shipments .
Serve as a dedicated point of contact for assigned customer accounts, providing proactive updates and responding to shipment questions.
Prepare, review, and coordinate shipment documentation.
Coordinate with carriers, vendors, customers, agents, and other partners involved in moving cargo.
Support export customs-clearance requirements and work with the appropriate parties to ensure documentation and shipment information are accurate.
Monitor shipments and resolve operational issues, delays, or exceptions as they arise.
Verify vendor invoices and shipment costs for accuracy.
Ensure customers are billed appropriately and required payment is received before cargo release.
Maintain organized shipment records and communicate clearly across customers and internal teams.
Provide the high-touch customer service expected in a specialized freight environment.
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience in international ocean freight, freight forwarding, NVOCC operations, a steamship line, or a closely related shipping environment.
Hands-on ocean export experience.
Working knowledge of RO/RO cargo .
Experience with breakbulk and/or project cargo strongly preferred.
Familiarity with export documentation and customs-clearance coordination.
Ability to independently manage shipment details and work through operational issues.
Strong customer-service and communication skills.
Strong organization and attention to detail.
Problem-solving and analytical ability.
Ability to work effectively in an environment where employees take broad ownership rather than performing only one narrow piece of the shipment process
Preferred Qualifications
Export customs clearance experience
Breakbulk and project cargo experience
Experience shipping boats, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, forestry machinery, or similar cargo
Experience with shipment billing, accruals, vendor invoices, and file-level financials
Freight forwarding/TMS system experience
Spanish language skills (not required but a strong plus!)
