Job description
CNC OD/ID Grinder OperatorProgram, set-up and operate a CNC OD/ID Grinder. Will grind metal parts while maintaining quality and safety standards, keep accurate records and maintain equipment and supplies.Principal responsibilities include:Ability to program CNC OD/ID Grinder through the use of G&M codes and/or conversational controls.Inspect or measure finished workpieces to determine conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as gauges or micrometers.Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal or plastic workpieces.Observe machine operations to detect any problems; make necessary adjustments to correct problems.Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, utilizing knowledge of machine operation.Measure workpieces and lay out work using precision measuring devices.Select machine tooling to be used utilizing knowledge of machine and production requirements.Study blueprints, work orders or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements and operational sequences.Mount and position tools in machine chucks, spindles, or other tool holding devices, using hand tools.Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events or the environment to detect or assess problems.Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.Minimal requirements for education, knowledge and experience:High school diploma or GED required.Knowledge and experience of precision machining with Okuma, Kellenberger, Overbeck and/or Studer grinders.Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.Knowledge of trigonometry, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.Physical/mental demands and working conditions:Required to stand for extended periods of time.Must be able to function in a machine shop environment.Work schedule generally consists of 40+ hours per week, which may include overtime, on-call status, evenings, and/or weekends.Stolle Machinery Co, LLC retains and reserves any or all rights to change, modify, amend, add to or delete from any section of this document as it deems, in its judgment, to be proper.
