Office Specialist I At The Bureau Of Alcoholic Beverages And Lottery Operations (BABLO)As an Office Specialist I at the Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations (BABLO), you will be critical to the operation and regulation of this growing industry. You will go to work every day knowing that you are an important part of a team that keeps the people of Maine safe.This is mid-level regulatory work which offers the opportunity for career development and advancement- both within the Bureau and across Maine state government. This work primarily consists of direct support for the Spirits Operations Manager and is an in office position.Representative tasks include:Creating and maintaining spreadsheetsReviewing price quotes for new products and pricing changesPreparing materials for presentation at monthly Liquor and Lottery Commission meetingsActing as back up for the Clerk of the Liquor and Lottery CommissionReviewing and responding to discount requests from agency liquor storesResponding to written and telephone inquiries from members of the industry and the publicReviewing and tracking the on-premises data collection project and acting as first point of contact for this programAssisting with the online Seller and Server Certification programResearching new product requests from consumers and licenseesKnowledge, skills and abilities required include:Understanding and following oral and written instructionsUnderstanding of modern office proceduresCreate Excel worksheets and perform data entryCreate documents and presentations with Microsoft Word and Power PointCreate and run virtual meetings with both Microsoft Teams and Zoom platformsCommunicate clearly and effectively, including writing concise reports and composing standard business correspondenceWork independentlyMeet strict deadlines while working on multiple projectsMinimum qualifications include training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates competency in applying a proficient knowledge of modern office practices to perform advanced administrative support tasks requiring specialized skills, and the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters.Some positions may require possession of a valid Class B Maine Motor Vehicle Operator's License.Application instructions include submitting a cover letter along with a current resume and three professional references.
