Summary

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will NOT be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities

Oiler-Deckhand aboard powered vessels displacing up to 1600 tons engaged in waterway maintenance.

Primary duty is in engine room with secondary duty as deckhand when needed.

Oils and greases diesel engines, electric motors, generators, pumps, bearings, gears, shafts, and other machinery and equipment aboard the vessel.

Under direction of Master or Engineer operates main engine end auxiliary equipment including pumps, generators, air compressors, and other machinery such as winches or small auxiliary engines, including all deck equipment.

Performs general vessel maintenance duties.

Qualifications

THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY FOR CERTAIN PERSONNEL OF DOD WORKFORCE. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifications - Candidates will be evaluated in accordance with OPM General Schedule (GS) Qualification Standards or Federal Wage System (FWS) Qualifications and Job Elements: FWS Qualifications: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/federal-wage-system-qualifications/#url=Job-Elements Selective Placement Factors: This position has requirements that must be met by providing your certificate/license with your application packet: Must possess and maintain an Ordinary Seaman (O/S), Oiler Endorsement and STCW certification (Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers) from the U.S. Coast Guard. Must possess and maintain Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).
