About Congressional School
Founded in 1939, Congressional School is an independent, coeducational day school for infants through eighth grade located on a beautiful 40-acre campus in Falls Church, Virginia. Congressional School inspires each student to embrace their unique strengths and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Through small class sizes, a nurturing environment, and a dynamic curriculum, Congressional prepares students to be curious scholars, ethical leaders, and engaged citizens.
Position Overview
Congressional School seeks an experienced, dynamic Director of Advancement and External Affairs to define a vision for advancement, parent and alumni relations, and implement the necessary infrastructure that strengthens a culture of philanthropy. The Director is a key member of the School’s Leadership Team and provides meaningful input on a full range of issues facing the school. In addition to formal duties, the successful candidate must be an integral member of the school community and take an active interest in social and community-building activities.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field.
Experience: a minimum 8-10 years of experience in development, preferably in an independent school, with five years leadership experience.
Expertise: Deep knowledge of fundraising, communications, marketing, and current best practices in development and external affairs.
