nThis is a per diem role for a total of 8 hours per week (hours are guaranteed). Requires working two 4-hour shifts per week; shift options are 2:30pm-6:30pm, or 3:00pm-7:00pm EST (Tuesdays and Wednesdays are preferred, but flexible if needed). Position is non-exempt status and paid on an hourly basis.*

nThe Optum family of businesses, is seeking an Onsite EAP Counselor to join our team in Hackensack, NJ. As a member of the Optum Behavioral Care team, you'll be an integral part of our vision to make healthcare better for everyone.

nThe Onsite EAP Counselor is a professional position responsible for providing onsite services to either a dedicated customer or customers in our overall book of business. Responsibilities range from assessment and referral, management consultations, training, and critical incident response. An Onsite EAP Counselor may also provide consultation to HR, program managers and supervisors on workplace and organizational issues.

nPrimary Responsibilities:

nnnConduct solution focused consultations; helping clients define goals, plan action and gain insight

n

nnAssess and refer to appropriate programs and services including but not limited to: Worklife, behavioral health, substance abuse / chemical dependency and community-based resources

n

nnAssist with referrals for members needing ongoing/additional counseling services

n

nnProvide limited after care monitoring (following up with employees and/or providers to ensure the safety of employees, continuation of treatment, etc.)

n

nnProvide manager consultation services on a variety of work-related issues such as; performance management, trauma impacting the workplace, organizational change, individual employee crisis intervention, coaching, and Work-life issues

n

nnProvide crisis intervention and management support in response to Critical Incidents

n

nnConduct on-site training services for managers and employees (e.g. wellness seminars, Health fairs, Lunch & Learns)

n

nnParticipate in monthly 1 on 1's, team meetings, and other customer meetings as required

n

nnUtilize UHG computer to accurately and thoroughly document member contact/case documentation accessing appropriate clinical case management system (s) within departmental time frame

n

nnFollow internal ethical and regulatory privacy policies such as HIPAA, maintain confidentiality and private health information of members. Follows state and federal licensing practices

n

nnOther projects as assigned by manager

n

nRequired Qualifications:

nnnMasters / Doctoral degree in a recognized behavioral health discipline

n

nnCurrent, unrestricted license at the independent practice level

n

nn3+ years of experience in a behavioral health setting

n

nnAbility to work onsite as needed

n

n nPreferred Qualifications:

nnnCEAP

n

nnEAP experience

n

nnExperience in settings such as managed care, private or public clinics, with emphasis on mental health, chemical dependency, and work place issues

n

nnTraining in EAP, workplace and organizational dynamics

n

nnProficiency with all MS Office applications

n

nnProven solid written and verbal communication skills

n

nnProven solid interpersonal skills required and the ability to work effectively among different levels of management and personnel

n

nnProven solid organizational skills with the ability to manage stressful situations and multiple competing priorities

n

n nPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $28.94 to $51.63 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
