Job description

Open Rank of Neurology – Behavioral or Cognitive Neurologist or Neuropsychiatrist

The University of New Mexico, School of Medicine, Neurology Department seeks a behavioral or cognitive neurologist to join our Memory and Aging team in an open rank, clinician educator track position who is dedicated to the clinical care of individuals with cognitive disorders to help grow and shape an expanding cognitive neurology program. You will be part of a team of faculty who provide high-quality cognitive care and will join a multidisciplinary group of Neurology faculty within the Neurology Department, UNM’s Center for Memory and Aging (CMA) and the New Mexico Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC).

Academic responsibilities include participation in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and research activities of the department. The newly funded New Mexico ADRC provides a highly collaborative environment at the forefront of dementia research, with innovative programs spanning advanced neuroimaging and blood-based biomarkers, vascular and inflammatory mechanisms of dementia, brain clearance and glymphatic physiology, and novel therapeutic and vaccine approaches. Particularly distinctive is the Center's commitment to bringing state-of-the-art dementia care and research directly to New Mexico's rural, Hispanic/Latino, and American Indian communities through community partnerships and culturally responsive care and research.

As the Memory and Aging program and New Mexico ADRC continue to grow, the successful candidate will have opportunities to shape new clinical, research, and educational initiatives and assume leadership roles aligned with their interests and experience, including in cognitive neurology services, clinical trials, ADRC programs, and fellowship education.

The successful candidate is expected to have excellent communications skills and the ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
