Shift: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Experience:

• 3 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 3 months of travel experience is required.

• Diploma completion required.

Requirements:

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 36 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Required Skills/Experience: Experience is required with the unit’s general surgery, urology, ENT, OBGYN, and orthopedic case types, except for total joint, podiatry, endoscopy, and OB/C-section cases. Total joint, podiatry, and endoscopy experience is not required, but willingness to be trained in those cases is required. OB/C-section experience is not required, but comfort with at least open abdominal cases and willingness to be trained in C-sections are required. Robotics experience is not required.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Five years of CST experience preferred.

Special Requests: Housing in ME becomes more expensive in the summer months, beginning in May. Be sure to confirm you are comfortable with housing options before applying. RTO requires manager approval. You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit & facility.

Unit Details: Patient population includes adults and a minimal pediatric population. General surgeries include open and laparoscopic cases involving bowel, gallbladder, appendix, hernias, portacaths, and fistulas. Urology cases include laser lithotripsy, nephroureteral stent insertion/removal, vasectomies, and TURPs. ENT cases include T&As, endoscopic sinus procedures, facial lesions, thyroid cases, and neck dissections. OBGYN cases include C-sections, tubal ligations, D&Cs, D&Es, hysteroscopies, hysterectomies, and uterine ablations. Orthopedic cases include total joints (knees and hips, with only a few shoulders), fractures, wrists, ankles, ACL repairs, fingers, carpal tunnel procedures, and rods (bipolar and nailings), with podiatry cases available for training. Endoscopy cases include EGDs and colonoscopies. No conscious sedation cases are performed. Room turnover is a responsibility shared by all staff. The unit averages about 25 cases per day. Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing systems are used.

Shift & Scheduling: The schedule is Monday-Friday with a rotating day off. Weekend work is call only. The first week of orientation consists of five 8-hour shifts. CSTs are required to take call, averaging 6-7 call shifts per month. Weekday call is typically 1-2 call shifts, with end-of-shift coverage until 0700 the following morning. Weekend call is typically every 4th or 5th weekend, with end-of-shift coverage from Friday until Monday morning at 0700. Call response time is 20 minutes. One sleep room is available; check the facility spreadsheet for availability. The call schedule is typically made about 6 weeks at a time by the manager. Some holidays will include call coverage, but not all holidays when multiple holidays fall within the contract.

Floating Requirements: May float to inpatient areas as a task person/helping hands and will not assume a patient assignment.
