Position Overview
The Operations Director will work with the AFT Vermont Board and the AFT Vermont management team to:
Manage HR functions, including hiring, onboarding, enhancing staff support systems, benefits administration, and supervision/evaluation structures
Execute day-to-day financial operations, including invoicing, budgeting, tracking, and annual financial reporting
Manage tech platforms, including training and supporting staff and members, regularly assessing systems and providing updates as needed
Support the AFT Vermont Board with meetings, logistics, trainings, and biennial convention
Assist in creating and implementing systematic staff and member training and education.
Qualifications
Three years experience in three or more of the following:
Experience with Labor Unions (or non-profits committed to racial and/or social justice)
Experience managing financial operations and annual reporting
Experience with human resources (hiring, onboarding, supporting staff & management)
Experience with supporting a Board (union or non-profit)
Experience operating and supporting others with software tools (Google Suites, Powerbase, Hustle, Action Network, Quickbooks, etc)
Compensation:
This position is based in Burlington, Vermont with occasional statewide travel. This is an in-person position, with flexibility for occasional remote work. The salary range is $76,000-$90,000 a year depending on experience. This is a management position.
