Job description

Operator, MachinistOperator, Machinist is an entry level position where the operator functions as a member of an area team that is directly responsible for the efficient production of quality products in the required quantities. This job requires strong communication, interpersonal and team building skills to support the organization. Following an initial training period on day shift, this position will transition to a night shift schedule of Monday through Thursday, 3:15 p.m. to 1:45 a.m.Essential FunctionsAble to setup, edit and operate lathes and mills.Versed in Rotary or Indexing capability as the application applies to the Vertical and Horizontal Machine Center.Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner using proper feed and speedTakes corrective actions in solving problems to root cause levelAssess equipment operating reliability and perform routine repairs, adjustments and malfunction troubleshooting.Performs and/or works with Maintenance to complete equipment preventive maintenanceDemonstrates high degree of ownership for product quality: check parts to ensure specifications are met according to print.Understands production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions and production inventories.Operates lift truck with certification.Must review, acknowledge and follow the Company Safety Policy including Safety Glasses and Steel Toed Shoes.Other duties assigned due to the need of the business.Physical/Environmental RequirementsManufacturing environment: may be exposed to loud noises, machinery with moving parts.Bending, stooping, twist, turn, sitting for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50lbs occasionally.Skills and AbilitiesGood communication skills and ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment.Ability to execute agreed tasks and deadlines against performance criteria (KPI)Result orientation, ability to follow through and respect deadlines.Proactive and organized.Ability to manage confidential information.Physical Capacity Profile/Drug screen required.Education, Knowledge, and ExperienceCompletion of Apprenticeship program or Technical school preferredOne (1) year of work experience within manufacturing, or a technical and/or trade discipline.Demonstrated competency in computer and PC software including MS Office and emailKnowledge of inventory control principles
