Job description
OPS Nutrition Educator
This is a part time, OPS Nutrition Educator position with the Department of Health (DOH) in Collier County in the Healthy Start Program and is anticipated to work approximately 28 hours per week at the rate of $25.00 an hour.
Your specific responsibilities include:
Serving as a Nutrition Educator for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program providing direct client service for WIC program participants.
Providing nutrition education and counseling per Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment requirements that is appropriate and pertinent to clients assessed nutrition problems.
Assessing all nutrition problems presented by each client, assigning correct WIC nutrition risk criteria.
Documenting assessment, counseling provided, client established goals, and food package assigned in FL-WiSE data system.
Preparing individualized outcome-oriented nutrition plan of care for all clients determined as high risk.
Providing and documenting appropriate referrals including, but not limited to, the Immunization program, medical referrals, family planning, smoking cessation, community food, clothing and shelter sources and other government assistance.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
Competent keyboard skills.
Ability to learn FL-WiSE computer system, Department of Health software applications and use calculator.
Ability to maintain client confidentiality and interact professionally with the public.
Ability to travel to secondary location as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree from a U.S. accredited university or college in nutritional science, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition.
Valid Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation.
