Chipton-Ross is seeking a Optical Engineer (Level 4) for a contract opportunity in Albuquerque, NM.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
5+ years minimum of related experience.
Education or work experience in Electro-Optics.
Experience with Electro Optical (ex: producing specifications, tolerances, simulations, assembly, integration and test of fiber optic (F/O) sensors, systems and components, including sensors, lasers, fiber-optics, and telecommunications products).
Experience in laser and electro-optical systems and optical communication systems requirements development, integration, testing and analysis.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and validates requirements for various complex communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components.
Develops and validates electromagnetic requirements for electrical\electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures.
Develop architectures to integrate multiple systems into higher level systems and platforms.
Perform complicated trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements.
Design complex electro-optical and laser systems.
Develop new and improved modeling and simulation techniques.
Develop and implement critical tests to validate performance of designs to requirements.
Manage appropriate aspects of critical supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements.
Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by providing guidance and support to resolve complex issues.
Support project management by providing coordinating development of statement of work (SOW), budget, schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews.
Generate major sections of large-scale proposals to support development of new business.
Perform some work in a clean room environment.
Works under minimal direction.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
Experience effectively communicating and collaborating on multi-discipline teams.
Experience in electro-optical design and analysis using Zemax, CodeV or an equivalent software design package.
Experience performing analysis on EO/IR systems.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement ( e.g.Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience). ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
TRAVEL:
Less than 10% domestic travel.
WORK HOURS:
FULL TIME/FIRST SHIFT; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
