nAlameda Health System is recruiting a full time optometrist. This is a wonderful opportunity for a well-qualified optometrist looking to work in the county of Alameda. The optometrist will work mostly at Eastmont Wellness Center, but may also work at Highland Hospital or Hayward Wellness Center. The clinics are well-equipped, and the optometrist would have assigned support staff. This position reports to the Division Chief of Ophthalmology.

n nJob Summary: Diagnoses and treats visual problems and manage diseases, injuries, and other disorders of the eyes.
nDUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification, however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
nnnPerforms routine and emergency eye inspections,perform vision tests; analyzes results.
n
nnIdentifies the patient’s visual alertness, field of vision and hand-eye coordination.
n
nnDiagnoses sight problems, such as near/far-sightedness, glaucoma and color blindness.
n
nnPrescribes corrective lenses and medications.
n
nnPromotes eye health by teach patients about proper eye care techniques.
n
nnIdentifies eye defects and diseases such as diabetes and liver failure and refers to other healthcare providers as necessary.
n
nnRecords diagnoses and treatment plans including transfers and therapeutic prescriptions.
n
nnPerforms other duties as assigned.

n nQualifications:
nAny combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
nRequired Education: Completion of an accredited Optometry program.
nRequired Experience:Recent training and/or clinical experience are required for all applicants for appointment; recent clinical experience is defined as having performed at least 200 outpatient activities relevant to outpatient practice prerogatives requested in the preceding two (2) years.
nPreferred Experience: Completion of an Optometry residency program.
nRequired Licenses/Certifications:Licensed as an Optometrist by the California Board of Optometry; Successful completion of an optometry program accredited by the California Board of Optometry; current BLS Certification and Current DEA Registration.
nPay Range: $72.52 - $120.88 / Hour
nThe pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization. Alameda Health System also offers eligible positions a generous comprehensive benefits program.
