Duties include patient testing, contact lens insertion and removal training; as well as assisting with various administrative duties within the Optometry Department.Essential Functions:Performs contact lens instruction, including insertion and removal training on patientsPerforms administrative functions, covering front desk, checking in patients, etc.Sets up and cleans examination and test rooms according to infection control standardsInsures that equipment is working properly and notifies appropriate personnel when a problem is identifiedPerforms auto-refraction and topography testingMaintains adequate supplies of medical/ophthalmic supplies in exam roomsDemonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age of the patients served in the serviceSterilization of soft and hard contact lenses in accordance with the infection control standardsComplies with all state, federal and local regulations and laws governing the performance of this position within this departmentAdheres to all policies and procedures, including confidentiality of patient and employee information, and attends annual in-service educationPerform other projects as assigned by Manager or physiciansAdheres to MEE Standards of BehaviorDemonstrates competency with documentation in EPIC system (EHR)Qualifications:Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent requiredLicenses and Credentials: Optometry/Ophthalmology Experience 1-2 years preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Proficiency in performing various eye-related tests and using diagnostic equipmentFamiliarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems is desirableExcellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and colleaguesStrong customer service skills to provide a welcoming and compassionate environment for patientsKeen attention to detail when recording patient information, performing tests, and assisting with proceduresWillingness to work collaboratively in a team-based healthcare settingPhysical Requirements:Standing Frequently (34-66%)Walking Frequently (34-66%)Sitting Occasionally (3-33%)Lifting Frequently (34-66%) 35lbs+ (w/assisted device)Carrying Frequently (34-66%) 20lbs - 35lbsPushing Occasionally (3-33%)Pulling Occasionally (3-33%)Climbing Rarely (Less than 2%)Balancing Frequently (34-66%)Stooping Occasionally (3-33%)Kneeling Occasionally (3-33%)Crouching Occasionally (3-33%)Crawling Rarely (Less than 2%)Reaching Frequently (34-66%)Gross Manipulation (Handling) Frequently (34-66%)Fine Manipulation (Fingering) Frequently (34-66%)Feeling Constantly (67-100%)Foot Use Rarely (Less than 2%)Vision - Far Constantly (67-100%)Vision - Near Constantly (67-100%)Talking Constantly (67-100%)Hearing Constantly (67-100%)Remote Type: OnsiteWork Location: 541 Main StreetScheduled Weekly Hours: 40Employee Type: RegularWork Shift: Day (United States of America)Pay Range: $17.71 - $24.94/HourlyEEO Statement:5110 Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
