Job description

Southern Ohio Medical Center is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon with fellowship training in Hand Surgery to join SOMC Orthopedic Associates in Portsmouth, Ohio. This hospital-employed position offers the opportunity to lead and grow a dedicated hand surgery service within an established orthopedic group supported by a strong regional referral network.

Practice Highlights

Hospital-employed position with SOMC Orthopedic Associates

Clinic hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

No evening or weekend office hours

1:4 call schedule

Six-provider group supported by eight clinical staff members, four front-office staff members, two surgery schedulers, radiology, and athletic training support

Typical clinic volume of 25-40 patients per day

Approximately 4-8 surgical procedures per day in the hospital

Office capabilities include X-ray, casting, injections, aspirations, and pin removal

Hand Surgery Opportunity

Current services and growth opportunities include:

Carpal and cubital tunnel release

Management of compression neuropathies

Soft-tissue mass excision

Thumb CMC arthroplasty

Hand and wrist fracture care

Opportunities to expand into flexor tendon repair, Dupuytrens contracture management, and ligamentous wrist repair

Participation in general orthopedic and community trauma care based on training and interest

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary of $950,439

Sign-on bonus up to $100,000

Medical school loan repayment up to $200,000

Residency or fellowship stipend up to $25,000

$10,000 in relocation assistance

Performance incentives up to 10% of salary

29 paid time off days, with five additional days available for achieving the 75th percentile of wRVUs

Five CME days and up to $5,000 for CME, books, and journals

Malpractice coverage, health insurance, and retirement benefits

Qualifications

Board certified or board eligible in Orthopedic Surgery

Completion of fellowship training in Hand Surgery
