Outreach Specialist VISTA with NYSARH
Rural Health Network SCNY (RHN)'s mission is to advance the health and well-being of rural people and communities. The RHN VISTA program, Rural Health Service Corps, seeks to provide meaningful service and learning opportunities for people committed to improving the health and lives of those living in South Central New York State. Rural Health Service Corps members address the broad community health needs of South Central NY, with a focus on health access and education, creating systemic food security, and supporting independent living for the elderly, homebound, and people with disabilities. Twelve VISTA members total will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as strategic planning, research, grant writing, training, volunteer management, and coalition building.
Member Duties : This VISTA will serve as a member of the New York State Association for Rural Health (NYSARH), spearheading efforts to expand the organization's communications and overall impact. This role will strengthen the membership engagement process and increase revenue for greater capacity at the agency, while advancing NYSARH's mission and strategic priorities. The primary focus of this position will involve advancing health equity across NYS and developing rural health transformation initiatives, as well as strengthening NYSARH's membership base. Secondary responsibilities will include coalition-building efforts and strengthening the NYSARH website content development process. This position will allow for teleservice: a hybrid schedule of service from home (3-4 days/week) and in-office service in the Capital Region (Albany, NY, for 1-2 days/week) at 35 hours/week. A teleservice agreement is required. Given the rural nature of our service area, a personal vehicle is recommended.
