Outside Machinist Journeyman ESREverett Ship Repair LLC - Everett, WAOverviewSalary Range $33.90 - $35.70 Hourly Level Experienced Position Type Full Time Job Shift Day Education Level High School Travel Percentage Negligible Category ConstructionDescriptionEverett Ship Repair is the Pacific Northwest Premier Ship Repair Facility. Founded in 2019, Everett Ship Repair offers vast ship repair capabilities from its facility in Everett, Washington, including repair, maintenance, and conversion services for any type of commercial vessels, with focus on commercial workboats and passenger vessels. With the US Navy as our neighbor, it is no secret that we are in aggressive pursuit of earning their business as we grow our footprint, skills, and profile in this market. With impressive dry-docking capacity, and an opportunity to be part of an emerging team of industry veterans and highly skilled tradesmen, ESR strives to continuously improve our repair and construction methods into efficient and reliable processes. We seek tradesmen who share that view, value learning opportunities, and desire an opportunity to apply their skills in our progressive environment.We are now seeking a Journeyman Machinist (Outside) who will install and align major equipment and propulsion systems as well as fabricate machinery components, foundations, and various sub-assemblies in support of other departmentsWhat You Will DoInstall and align major equipment and propulsion systems including, main engines, gear boxes, pumps, shafts, jet drives, propellers, rudders, and Z-drive systems.Forms, fits, and fabricates structural machinery foundations to blueprints from steel or aluminum including layout and MIG and Arc welding and tacking of components.Aligns and locks down main engines and gear boxes during sea trials.Lay out, cut, form, machine, and prepare for final assembly of all work assignments.Use a variety of mounted and hand power tools, including lathe, milling machine, grinder, drills, dial calipers, torque wrenches, micrometers, and dial indicators.Test and inspect machine parts and equipment to ensure tolerances are within owner specifications and regulatory requirements.Use standard and metric measurements and conversions.Use a variety of metal forming equipment such as sheer, break, roll, press, and band saw.Work with Oxygen Propane torches and Plasma cutters.Maintains work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition and follows all safety policies and regulations.Works as a member of a team or alone, using adaptability and problem solving to complete assigned tasks.Expresses ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.Occasionally provide relief for Inside Machinist in building custom components will lathe, milling, drilling, and molding operations, including small and large assembly, machining of steel, alloys, and ship assemblies to blueprint specifications using conventional lathes, mills, and grindersAdhere to safe work practices and housekeeping procedures.Work as a member of a team demonstrating skills to effectively communicate, adapt, interpret and problem solve.Always embrace NBB safety culture and practice safe shipyard work practices and housekeepingDevelop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with fellow crew members and supervisionShare your knowledge in the trade with other employees, especially those in learning or apprentice rolesPerform other tasks as needed that may arise in our exciting work environmentQualificationsWhat You Bring to Our Team5+ Years' experience as a Machinery Assembler, or Machinist (Journeyman)High School Education or equivalent or vocational educationKnowledge of shipyard safety practices and vessel terminologyAbility to read, interpret specifications, and work from drawings and blueprintsAbility to understand and apply basic math skillsAbility to express ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing.Knowledge of basic hand and power toolsUnderstanding and experience with lathe and milling machinesAbility to work overtime as necessaryProficiency in converting from SAE to metric and from fractions to decimalsExperience working around heavy machineryAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. must be able to work at heights of 60 ft.Ability to enter confined spaces using a respirator, and work in small workspaces at odd anglesWhat Additional Things Would Distinguish YouPrevious experience in a shipyard (new construction or repair) or marine construction environmentExperience and proficiency with laser alignment (i.e. Rotoline, Pinpoint)Certification as a Shipyard Competent PersonExperience and Proficiency working with multiple alloys / materials (for example, Steel and Aluminum)Working knowledge and understanding of applicable NAVSEA standard items.OSHA 10- CertificationCertification and experience in use of forklifts and manlifts.Interest in and aptitude for taking on future crew leadership rolesBenefits401(k) and 401(k) matchingHealth insuranceHealth savings accountDental insuranceVision insuranceGroup Life Insurance with Optional supplemental life and disability insurance programsPaid time off9 paid holidaysEmployee Assistance ProgramCulture of Learning with State-Certified Apprenticeship ProgramsEqual Employment Opportunity: Everett Ship Repair is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate based on race, political affiliation, religion, sex, marital status, national origin, age, or the presence of any sensory, mental or physical disability.Everett Ship Repair is a drug free workplace, and all applicants are subject to a pre-employment drug screen and a background check.
