Job description
Full-Time Overnight CustodianOvernights: Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 PM – 5:30 AM (40 hours/week)The Full-Time Overnight Custodian plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone who enters Central Church. This position supports ministry by ensuring our buildings, restrooms, common areas, and event spaces are cared for with excellence, consistency, and attention to detail. The custodian helps prepare rooms for services and events, responds to facility needs, and contributes to a culture of ownership and hospitality.Key ResponsibilitiesCleaning & SanitationClean and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, offices, hallways, classrooms, and common areasSweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect surfaces dailyEmpty trash and recycling bins and replace linersClean glass, windows, mirrors, and doorsMaintain cleanliness of entryways and high-traffic areas throughout shiftRoom Setup & Event SupportSet up and tear down chairs, tables, staging, and equipment as neededEnsure rooms are reset to standard after meetings or eventsSupport weekend services by keeping restrooms and common spaces clean and stockedRespond quickly to spills, messes, and urgent cleaning needsFacility Care & Maintenance SupportMonitor building for safety hazards and report concerns immediatelyRestock paper goods, soap, and cleaning supplies as neededOperate cleaning equipment (floor scrubbers, vacuums, etc.)Assist with light maintenance tasks when assigned (changing bulbs, basic repairs, etc.)Help maintain supply closets and organize custodial inventoryTeam Culture & OwnershipRepresent Central Church values through professionalism, integrity, and serviceCommunicate clearly with supervisors and staff about needs or concernsTake initiative in improving cleanliness and identifying areas that need attentionWork with excellence even when tasks are behind-the-scenesQualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredAbility to perform physical labor including lifting, bending, standing, and walking for long periodsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsDependable and punctual with strong work ethicAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionWillingness to support church eventsPreferredPrevious custodial or janitorial experience (church, school, office, or similar setting)Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and safety practicesExperience with floor care equipment (buffers, scrubbers, etc.)SkillsStrong attention to detailConsistent follow-throughServant-hearted attitudeSelf-motivated and proactiveStrong time managementTeam-oriented with a positive attitudePhysical RequirementsThis role requires regular physical activity including standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), pushing/pulling carts, bending, and repetitive motion.
