If so, this may be the overnight role you're looking for.Post Ranch Inn, the world renowned boutique hotel in Big Sur, seeks an Overnight Security Guard to join our team! The nature of the position requires working during late PM and early AM hours (generally 11:00pm – 7:00am), 5 days per week. Frequent vehicle usage will be required, must be 21 years of age to operate and have a clean driving record under insurance guidelines.Job ObjectiveThe Overnight Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and peaceful environment for guests, employees, and property during overnight hours. This role manages access at the property gate, monitors the premises, responds to incidents, and ensures all security protocols are followed while providing a calm and professional presence. This role will also support and assist the Overnight Guest Relations Supervisor and Night Audit position.Essential Job FunctionsAccess & Gate ControlStaff and manage the property gate during overnight hoursVerify credentials for all incoming vehicles, guests, employees, and vendorsMaintain accurate gate logs and visitor recordsEnforce property access policies and deny entry when appropriateProperty Monitoring & PatrolConduct regular foot and/or vehicle patrols of the property, buildings, and surrounding areasMonitor security cameras, alarms, and surveillance systemsIdentify and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, or policy violationsIncident ResponseRespond promptly and professionally to security incidents, disturbances, or emergenciesDe-escalate situations when possible and contact emergency services as neededComplete detailed incident reports and shift logsCommunicate incidents and follow-up needs to management and incoming shiftsSafety & Emergency PreparednessEnforce safety protocols and emergency proceduresAssist with fire, medical, weather-related, or evacuation situationsConduct safety checks of doors, gates, lighting, and secured areasGuest & Employee SupportProvide courteous assistance to guests and employees during overnight hoursAnswer questions, provide directions, and offer basic support while maintaining security standardsMaintain a professional, calm, and respectful demeanor at all timesAdministrative DutiesMaintain daily activity logs, reports, and documentationEnsure security equipment is functioning properly and report maintenance needsFollow all company policies, procedures, and confidentiality standardsPerform limited night audit duties as assigned, including basic reporting, system checks, or data entry during overnight hoursEssential Work SkillsStrong situational awareness and attention to detailCalm judgment and ability to de-escalate situationsClear verbal and written communicationAccess control, patrol, and surveillance skillsEmergency response readinessProfessional, guest-focused demeanorReliability and ability to work independently overnightEducation and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)Previous security, law enforcement, or military experience preferredFrequent vehicle usage will be required, must be 21 years of age to operate and have a clean driving record under insurance guidelinesPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periodsAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsVisual and auditory acuity to monitor surveillance systems and surroundingsPay range for the Overnight Security Guard position is $24.00 - $26.00 per hour (DOE)About Us: Post Ranch Inn is one of the most acclaimed luxury resorts in the world and is consistently listed as one of the world's best places to stay.
