Packaging SupervisorLocation: Chicago, ILThe ASR Group® family of companies make up the world's largest refiner and marketer of cane sugar. The companies produce a full line of grocery, industrial, foodservice and specialty sweetener products. Across North America, ASR Group® companies operate five sugar refineries, located in California, Maryland, Louisiana, Canada and Mexico. The companies also farm sugarcane and own sugar mills in Mexico and Belize. The ASR Group® portfolio includes the leading brands Domino®, C&H®, Florida Crystals®, Redpath®, Tate & Lyle®, Lyle's®, Sidul® and Whitworths®. ASR Group® companies also produce and market Tellus®, a single-use, compostable tableware and foodservice product made from plant fibers, including sugarcane.Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Packaging Supervisor works is responsible for driving the packaging department results through effective resource management, safe operating procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), and regulatory compliance.Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments to ensure the production of products to meet customer specifications, company quality standards, and customer delivery requirements.Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, safety standards and quality of products.Train, coach and involve employees; appraise performance; offer praise and hold accountable; address complaints and resolve problems.Oversee and review all required paperwork, reports and documentation.Drive CI culture and Lean-Six Sigma principles through the continuous training and development of production staffCoordinate the production planning process with the other departments for downtime for PM and Work Order completion.Actively participate on cross-functional teams for the continuous on-going improvement of methods and processes.Continually review, recommend and implement programs to comply with all State, Federal and local safety and sanitation regulations and employment issues.Ensure proper up-keep of equipment; address and resolve problems; initiate work orders for repairs.Maintain a high level of completion of quality initiatives for the plant such as CAPA Completion/SQF Preparedness/HAACP Awareness/GMP's Provides excellent level of customer service to both internal and external customers.Performs all other duties as assigned. Reports to work on time and works overtime as required and if required.Work effectively and ensure that food safety, authenticity, legality, and quality are maintained.Report any risks or any evidence of unsafe or out-of-specification product, equipment, packaging or raw materials, to a designated manager to enable the resolution of issues requiring immediate action.3+ years leadership experience, preferably in food manufacturingDemonstrated ability to direct, coach, and develop a team on a daily basis.Lean Six Sigma certification strongly preferredProven ability to make sound decisions regarding resource utilization and needs.Experience implementing Continuous Improvement tools to improve Packaging & OEE Performance preferredPrior knowledge of SAP, Kronos, and Mii preferredBachelor's Degree (Engineering, Business Management, Food Science, or Organization Leadership/Management preferred) or equivalent experience as determined by HRStrong Microsoft office and PC skillsWork extended days and/or weekends with flexibility to switch shifts as requiredAptitude for teambuilding and employee engagement.Results-oriented, process improvement focused.Highly organized, self-starter that can work with little direct supervision.SALARY PAY RANGE: $55,500-$103,500 plus bonusThe pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate's qualifications and prior experience. Benefits include healthcare (medical, dental, vision, prescription drugs) available the first of the month following 30 days of employment, 401(k) with match, life insurance, AD&D, short-term disability, vacation, holiday and sick time.
