Paint Department Lead: Island ParkBHC Island Park - Island Park, NY 11558OverviewSalary Range $16.00 - $18.00 HourlyDescriptionPosition SummaryThe Paint Department Lead is responsible for the success of their store's paint department and maintain outstanding customer service and help create the best paint department experience possible. The primary responsibilities include assisting both residential and commercial customers with their projects, knowledge of paint and paint products, mixing and tinting paint, and help maintain a clean and orderly merchandise presentation and overall cleanliness of the paint department.Major ResponsibilitiesSales efforts in supporting both retail and commercial customersAssisting customers over the phone and in the store to help determine appropriate coating recommendations based on customer projects and specificationsCustom color matching and using computer color matching softwareUse tinting and mixing equipmentOffer color matching expertise and paint product selection adviseMaintain the paint counter and aisles on a daily basisClean store equipmentAssist with physical inventoryAssist in processing special ordersKnowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials used in the painting industryKnowledge in the preparation and application of paints to different types of surfacesKnowledge in estimating time and material requirements for work projectsBeing able to service and determine the needs of our commercial customer baseHandle customer complaints both in house and on the job siteJob Requirements:Must be 18 years old or older due to use of machinery1 year of paint store experience requiredOutside sales experience preferredExperience in the operation of tinting and mixing paintsExperience with spray equipmentAbility and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidaysPhysical RequirementsEssential Physical Ability - Frequency - RequirementWalking - Frequent - Flat surfaces from point to pointStanding - Constant - Most work performed on feetSitting - In-Frequent - As neededStooping - Frequent - To pick up cartons at floor levelReaching - Frequent - To a height of 6 feetLifting - Frequent - Must be able to lift up to 65lbs to load customer ordersHand Dexterity - Constant - Must be able to use a computer and paint equipmentPushing / Pulling - Frequent - Move hand jacks from place to placeCarrying - Frequent - Up to 50 lbs., up to 10 feet, occasionally moreClimbing - Occasional - Stairs in storage rooms; laddersVision - Constant - Read labels, recognize boxes, safety in working, distinguish between colorsHearing - Constant - Safety signalsBellmore Home Center, Inc. d/b/a Costello's Ace Hardware is an Equal opportunity Employer.
