Job description
Industrial PainterThe Industrial Painter is responsible for mixing, matching, and applying paint, varnishes, and similar coatings to various materials and surfaces. They also complete touchups and coordinate large painting projects. They use various techniques to apply paint, including sprays, rollers, and brushes. The Industrial painter will work in manufacturing industry. In addition to the painting itself, the industrial painter is responsible for cleaning and preparing the surface to be painted, removing previous finishes (including by sandblasting), and cleaning up of the area after each step of preparation and painting itself is done.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Industrial Painter performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:Prepare parts for coating.Follow all principles and practices of wet paint applicationOperate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers and booth collection systems to apply industrial pain finishes on metals and productsObserve machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defectsDetermine paint flow, viscosity and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using viscometersBake parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitationsKnowledge of thermosetting resin coatings, wash and pretreatmentsEnsure that all components are produced/coated efficiently, and are consistent with company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performanceEnsure quality standards and processes are used throughout facilityEnsure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environmentLoad and unload parts or product onto fixturesGood knowledge of the mechanics and repair of painting equipmentProper cleaning and maintenance of equipmentMixes paints and other solutions and monitors drying to ensure desired results.Completes finishing with baking, polishing or other materialsMay paint items by hand as neededQualificationsEducation RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredExperience Requirements1 to 3 years of experience and/or training in industrial, or automotive equipment paintingExperience in mixing and differentiating colorsProfessional designationPrefer ASE CertificationKnowledge, skills and abilitiesKnowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, methods and techniques use in industrial paintingLock-out/Tag-out proceduresAbility to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniquesAttention to detailAbility to prioritize, schedule and review workEffectively and safely operate a variety of assigned tools and equipmentInterpret blueprints, shop drawings, sketches and work orders to othersMaintain routine recordsAbility to work on multiple priorities with frequent interruptionsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work independently without daily supervisionProficiency in the use of computers for:ERP Production SoftwarePersonal characteristicsIndustrial Painter should demonstrate competence in some or all of the following:Language Skills - Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language. Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions from and to other employees in a professional and respectful manner.Mathematical Skills - Ability to perform basic mathematical computations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
