Summary

This vacancy is for a WG - 4102 - 9, Painter located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION FACILITY MIAMI in MIAMI BEACH, Florida.

Responsibilities

You will serve as a Painter and be responsible for the preparation, by mechanical and chemical process, and the protective and cosmetic coating of buoys, vessels, structures, and miscellaneous objects. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Preparing metal surfaces for coating by dry and wet abrasive blasting, by grinding with abrasive disks and wheels, and by chemical stripping methods. Preparing metal surfaces by pickling or through controlled oxidation; prepares fiber reinforced plastic surfaces by filling, shaping, and abrasive sanding; prepares masonry surfaces by mechanical and abrasive blasting methods. Developing coatings of proper color, adjusting hue, intensity and tone to match existing color schemes. Developing coatings of proper texture, consistency, and thickness; diagnoses coating problems, and adjusts application or mixture to obtain desired results adjusting and operating air and airless spray apparatuses.

Qualifications

Specialized experience/Screen-out: To qualify for the Painter (Blaster), WG-4102-9, applicants must meet the following screen-out job element to be considered for this position: Job Element #1: Ability To Do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) to be considered eligible for the position. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. To meet the screen-out examples of the duties includes: Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc (other than blueprint reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials Dexterity and Safety Practices in Construction Structure NOTE: All experience statements (i.e., duties, specialized experience, or related applicable assessment) copied from this announcement and pasted into your resume will not be considered as a demonstration of your qualifications for this position. Requirements

Selectee must able to posses and maintain a valid state driver's license. Selectee subject to successful completion of pre-employment medical exam. Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement. If course content cannot be easily identified from the title of the course as listed on your transcript, you must submit an official course description from the college/university that reflects the content at the time the course was taken. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet Federal qualification requirements if you can show that your foreign education is comparable to education received in accredited educational institutions in the United States. Student Loan-Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent or term position may be eligible for student loan repayment up to $10,000 (pre-tax) for one calendar year. More than one loan may be repaid if the combined repayments do not exceed $10,000. Receipt of this incentive will require a three-year service agreement.
