Job description
Industrial PainterThis role focuses on painting agricultural and transportation products using industrial painting techniques. You will work from blueprints to prep, hang, and finish parts for paint, starting with cleaning and preparation and progressing to more advanced tasks. As you gain experience with different types of parts and their functions, you will have the opportunity to learn and perform powder coating processes.ResponsibilitiesPrepare parts for painting by cleaning, sanding, and performing detailed paint prep work.Hang and arrange parts in the paint booth according to project requirements and safety standards.Apply paint using spray guns and other industrial painting equipment to achieve consistent, high-quality finishes.Interpret and work from blueprints to understand specifications, part orientation, and required coatings.Perform blasting and sandblasting as needed to properly prepare surfaces for painting.Follow established processes for industrial painting on agricultural and transportation products.Learn and apply powder coating processes once familiar with part types and workflows.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the paint booth and surrounding shop.Work with urgency to meet production timelines while maintaining quality standards.Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure parts move efficiently through prep, paint, and finishing stages.Essential SkillsAt least 1 year of experience in painting or paint prep work in an industrial or similar environment.Experience with industrial painting processes, including surface preparation and paint application.Ability to perform paint prep tasks such as cleaning, sanding, and masking parts.Familiarity with using spray guns and working in a paint booth setting.Basic understanding of blasting or sandblasting for surface preparation.Ability to work from and interpret blueprints is a strong asset.Capacity to work with urgency while maintaining attention to detail and quality.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with industrial painting on agricultural or transportation products is an advantage.Willingness to learn powder coating processes and expand technical skills.Comfort working with various types of parts and understanding how they fit into larger assemblies.Ability to collaborate effectively in a shop environment with multiple shifts.Flexibility to work different shifts and overtime as needed.Why Work Here?You will join a family-oriented organization that values flexibility and is willing to work with team members on modified schedules as long as the work is completed. The facility handles a variety of painting projects and may bring in additional outside work, offering exposure to diverse products and finishes. There are approximately 40 people across both shifts, fostering a busy but manageable team environment. Training takes place on the day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for 3 to 6 weeks, after which you transition to a night shift running 12:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with the potential to move to 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. if business demands increase. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, with Friday reserved for overtime as needed. A shift differential is available once you move to the night shift. Work is performed in and around paint booths using spray guns, blasting equipment, and other industrial painting tools in a production shop environment.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of WEST FARGO, ND.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
