Paraprofessional (HHA/CNA)

Hourly Rate: $23.70/hr starting 8/01/2026

Location: All 5 boroughs: Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island

Position Summary: After completing a full day of FREE Nonviolent Crisis Prevention training, you will provide 1:1 support to a student with behavioral and/or medical needs that require dedicated adult assistance. Support may occur in a classroom setting and/or on district-provided transportation. Student ages range from preschool through high school. We are seeking compassionate, dependable adults who can help maintain a safe and supportive environment.

Responsibilities Schedule/Shift

5 days a week

Should be available between 7:00am – 5:00pm. Hours will vary depending on school site

Position is for the entire school year unless stated otherwise

Key Duties:

Provide 1:1 support to your assigned student as outlined on the Individualized Education Program

Collaborate with school based staff to determine best practices to address student needs

Monitor student during academic and non-academic times to ensure safety

Students may require behavioral support, medical support, ambulation support and/or toileting support

Requirements Education

HS Diploma or equivalent

License & Certifications

HHA or CNA certification strongly preferred

Skills

Communication skills (clear, patient communication with students; professional updates to teachers and families)

Behavior support & de-escalation (follow behavior plans, stay calm, use safe crisis-prevention techniques)

Empathy and patience (support students with diverse learning/medical needs without escalating situations)

Reliability & attention to detail (consistent attendance, accurate documentation, and careful supervision for safety)
