Paraprofessional (Special Education)

Compensation Range: $22-27/hour

Location:  Wooster, OH; Onsite – School Setting

As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will play a pivotal role in helping shape the minds and hearts of young learners. Responsibilities

Schedule / Shift: Shift details: School Day Schedule

Hours per week: 35 hours per week

Contract length: School Year

Key Duties Assisting in the implementation of lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and cater to individual learning styles.

Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages active participation and collaboration among students.

Assist with managing classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement strategies and behavior management techniques.

Collaborate with parents, caregivers, educators, and other members of the students' IEP team to ensure each student's needs are being met.

Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in education, literacy, math, and childhood development.

Provide one-on-one and small group support to students who need additional academic assistance

Monitor and supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, and breaks

Help prepare and organize instructional materials, resources, and lesson aids

Reinforce classroom rules and behavioral expectations to maintain a safe learning environment

Track and document student progress and report observations to lead teachers

Support students with special needs or individualized education plans (IEPs) as directed

Requirements

Education: Associate’s degree or ETS ParaPro Assessment with the minimum Ohio passing score or higher.

Licenses & Certifications

Experience: Previous experience working with special needs children is required.

Skills Previous experience working in an educational environment with behavioral/Special Education students

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach to working with diverse student populations

Ability to follow directions and collaborate effectively with teachers and staff

Familiarity with implementing curriculum and lesson planning strategies

Experience in behavior management techniques tailored for diverse learners

CPR/First Aid certification is a plus, or willingness to learn
