Ed Robson Library
Paraprofessional position may be for you. As our Library Paraprofessional, you will perform library work, basic readers advisory, reference services, and present programs. In this role, youll link the community to library resources while breathing life into your own story.
This position will be assigned to the Ed Robson Library located at 9330 E Riggs Rd, Sun Lakes, AZ 85248. Opened in 2004, this branch is nestled within the master-planned active adult communities built by Edward J. Robson. Serving the residents of Sun Lakes and surrounding neighborhoods, this quiet, slower-paced location offers a peaceful environment for lifelong learners, featuring dedicated community spaces, a popular puzzle table, and targeted adult programming.

We Require
Two years of library experience
Associates degree in Library Science, Education, Liberal Arts, Social Science, Information Management, or related field
A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
Library/public library experience with library-related automation systems or databases; eReaders and other digital devices; or creating and implementing programs for youth, teens, and adults
Paraprofessional library skills acquired through a specialized educational training program
Job Contributions
Assists with preparing, implementing, and presenting public programs
Assists with providing direct service to customers through basic reference and reader’s advisory services
Assists with conducting school visits, group tours, and community outreach
Assists patrons in the use of computer services, including the online catalog, the Internet, and various databases
Creates reading logs, brochures, signage, posters, bulletin boards, letters, bookmarks, bibliographies, games, promotional displays, and pamphlets
Performs routine opening/closing procedures
Responds to customer concerns
Assists with collection development, including weeding, shifting, shelf-reading, etc., as needed
Working Conditions
This position works in a library environment with a varied schedule, continually dependent on the branchs needs, and often requires evening and weekend availability
Role involves lifting bins, pushing carts, stooping (to shelve), kneeling (to shelve), walking to assist customers with finding materials, walking to and from the staff area to the public area, moving craft and program supplies from various storage areas to the site of the program in the library, and off-site
Role involves lifting floor to waist – 20lbs; Lifting waist to shoulder – 5lbs; Lifting shoulder to overhead – 1lb; Carrying a distance of 50ft – 10lbs; Pushing/pulling a distance of 100ft – 50lbs
