Parking Services Meters SectionThis full-time position is the first level in a two-level Parking Services "meters section" devoted to providing customer service and pay station upkeep. This position will provide daily preventative maintenance and repair of all on-street multi-space pay stations (meters) deployed in the downtown area. Work may include responding to customer concerns, running reports, regular cleaning of meter cabinets, graffiti removal, pay station removals and reinstallations, and maintain records for repair history. Incumbents will be responsible for weekly coin collection.About You: The ideal candidate is one who fully supports Raleigh Parking's mission and ideals, with passion. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.Provides daily monitoring, testing, preventative maintenance, and repair of all on-street pay stationsRemoves pay stations during long construction; reinstalls when projects are completeProvides regular cleaning of the cabinets; removes graffiti immediately when discoveredResponds to electronically generated trouble alerts in a timely mannerProvides guidance/instruction to customers in the proper procedures for operating the pay stationsPrepares and maintains records for inventory items, repair history, communication failures, etc. as requiredResponds immediately to customer reports of machine malfunctionsPerforms other duties of a similar nature and level as assignedTypical QualificationsEducation and Experience: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; Less than 1 experience in maintenance and repair of small equipment, parking meters, or related work OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.Licenses or Certifications:Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hireAdditional InformationKnowledge of:Common hand and power toolsBasic electronics and computer repairStandard practices, methods, and materials that are assigned for workBasic mathematical conceptsOccupational hazards and other applicable safety principles and practicesProper use of supplies and equipmentModern office practices and procedures including the use of standard office equipment and computer applications, such as word processingSkill in:Following directions and meeting standardsProviding attention to detail in assignmentsPerforming work tasks without assistance from othersComprehending reference books and manualsOperating assigned tools and equipmentOrganizing and maintaining records and filesInterpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards (based on assignment)Ability to:Understand and use diagnostic/programming softwareRead and understand maintenance manuals of on-street pay stationsProblem-solve issuesCommunicate effectively with those encountered in the course of workProvide excellent customer serviceADA and Other Requirements: Work Environment and Physical Effort: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an outdoor environment, street environment (near moving traffic) and in or around vehicles. Work is occasionally performed in office or similar environment, warehouse or shop environment. Work Exposures: There is frequent exposure to extreme cold (below 32 degrees), extreme heat (above 100 degrees) and loud noises (85+ decibels average over 8-hour working day such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, construction).
