Job description
Lifeguard PositionUnder general supervision, this professional employee position ensures the safety of patrons at The J's aquatic facilities by preventing and responding to emergencies. The position of lifeguard requires excellent interpersonal skills and a high standard of customer service. This position is active year round.SchedulePart-time up to 15 hours per week.M-F, part-time hours between 5am and 9:30pm, plus occasional weekends, especially during summer. Our available LG shifts include 5am-8am, 8am-noon, noon-3:30pm, 3:30pm-6:30pm and 6:30pm-9:30pm and include weekdays and weekends.BenefitsFlexible schedules - daytime hours$16/hr minimum starting pay, higher rates available based on certification and experienceReturning guards rates increase yearly - must consistently work opening 5am shiftsFree Individual membership to The JEmployee DiscountsResponsibilitiesFollows and enforces all rules throughout the Aquatics FacilitiesMaintains constant surveillance of Members in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of Members in the event of emergencyCompletes the appropriate daily paperwork during the shiftPerforms various maintenance and cleaning dutiesSwim 1000 yards each weekAttend the one mandatory in-service training scheduled for each month during the fall/winter and two mandatory in-service trainings scheduled for each month during the summerPerforms additional job-related duties as assignedRequirementsLifeguard TrainingFirst AidCPR & AED ProMust be at least 16 years of agePass Lifeguard pre-employment practical skills test in the water and demonstrate ability at periodic in-service training sessionsPhysical RequirementsMust be able to lift up to 50lbsAble to complete the LG pre-course skills: 300 swim, 20 yrd brick test, 2 minutes of treadingMust be able to sit/stand for extended periods of timeGood vision to surveil assigned zones and identify patrons in need of assistance.
