Missionwell is seeking a detail-oriented Full-Cycle Bookkeeper to support a portfolio of nonprofit and values-driven organizations. This is an opportunity to work remotely with a collaborative team while managing meaningful accounting work that directly supports organizations making a difference in their communities.
What You'll Do
As an Associate Accountant, you will:
Manage the full accounting cycle from transaction entry through month-end close.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
Record and reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and other balance sheet accounts.
Prepare and post journal entries, including payroll-related accounting.
Support month-end and year-end close processes and financial reporting.
Assist with cash flow tracking, budget-to-actual reporting, and restricted fund reporting.
Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and documentation.
Partner with clients and internal team members to resolve issues, gather information, and improve processes.
Support new client onboarding and accounting system setup.
Coach and train junior bookkeeping staff as assigned.

Requirements: What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who thrives in a remote environment, enjoys solving problems, takes pride in producing accurate financial work, and has experience working in cloud-based accounting systems, including QuickBooks Online and
Required Qualifications
At least 1 year of full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience.
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
Bookkeeping certification or equivalent education and experience.
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, and Microsoft Excel.
Strong attention to detail and solid analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage priorities independently across multiple clients and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with nonprofit organizations.
Familiarity with fund, grant, or donor-restricted accounting.
Experience supporting religious organizations is a plus.

Work Location
This is a fully remote position. Candidates must reside in one of the following states:
California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Tennessee, North Carolina, or Florida. Occasional local travel may be required.

Compensation
$22.00-$26.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This is a non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime compensation in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.

Work Schedule
This role is 20 - 30 hours per week with flexible scheduling within normal business hours while maintaining responsiveness to clients and team needs.
