Job description
School Safety & Security AssistantWorks with the Supervisor of Safety & Security to ensure school safety requirements are met for children crossing the street. Typical work hours are between 7:00am and 8:00am and 2:30pm to 4:00pm. Employees who serve in this role are afforded opportunities to support needs on evening and weekend for other school district events as part of the security team for our campus.Required Skills, Knowledge andHigh school diploma or equivalentMust possess experience communicating with childrenMust possess good interpersonal relationship skills using tact, patience and courtesy, particularly with respect to childrenMust have the ability to handle situations that may occur with children at the crossingMust have the ability to deal with dissatisfied individualsMust have good attendancePrimary DutiesDirects school children to cross the street at the crossing signalControls vehicular traffic as necessary consistent with the safety of all concerned to assure safe crossing for childrenControls traffic when necessary for the safe travel of childrenWears safety vest while directing traffic and/or crossing childrenInstructs all school children to walk at the crossing pointMust be dependable and punctualPerform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or his/her designeeEOE
