Custodial And Grounds Maintenance RoleUnder general supervision, performs a variety of custodial and grounds maintenance tasks in and around recreation facilities. This role ensures cleanliness, safety, and functionality, contributing to a welcoming environment for visitors and staff.Essential Job FunctionsMaintain department buildings and offices in a clean, orderly condition according to prescribed standards.Perform custodial tasks, including but not limited to: Sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors.Vacuuming and spot-cleaning carpets.Emptying and sanitizing trash containers.Cleaning walls, windows, furniture, and other surfaces.Cleaning and restocking restrooms.Cleaning the outside property.Post appropriate warning signs (e.g., "Wet Floor" or "Wet Paint") to ensure public safety.Report maintenance or repair needs for buildings, property, and equipment to the Facility Manager or Supervisor.Operate and maintain custodial equipment such as floor machines and carpet cleaners.Use cleaning products and tools safely and effectively, adhering to all safety guidelines.Communicate effectively with supervisors, staff, and the public as needed.Additional Job FunctionsPerform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.Assisting with securing the property, if needed.Assist in other facility operations as required.Minimum Training and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job FunctionsPhysical RequirementsMust be physically able to operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, carpet cleaners, and floor machines.Requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and to remain on feet for extended periods.Interpersonal SkillsAbility to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.Capable of listening, understanding, and following instructions.Knowledge and SkillsFamiliarity with cleaning methods, tools, and chemicals, including their safe usage.Basic maintenance skills and ability to identify facility repair needs.Attention to detail and ability to organize tasks effectively.Performance IndicatorsKnowledge of JobDemonstrates thorough knowledge of custodial practices and tools.Understands and follows safety protocols for handling chemicals and equipment.Quality and Quantity of WorkMaintains high standards of cleanliness and organization.Completes assigned tasks efficiently and within designated time frames.Initiative and JudgmentIdentifies and resolves minor maintenance issues proactively.Exercises sound judgment in prioritizing tasks and responding to emergencies.Cooperation and TeamworkWorks collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors.Maintains a positive attitude and contributes to a supportive work environment.Safety and HousekeepingAdheres to safety protocols and maintains a hazard-free work environment.Reports potential safety concerns promptly and takes appropriate actions to mitigate risks.Equal Opportunity Employer
