Job description
Part-Time Family Assistant – Shoreline, WA
A warm, community-minded couple is seeking a thoughtful, organized Family Assistant to support them in their beloved family home. This is a part-time role for someone who can bring genuine care, discretion, and a gentle hands-on presence to a household that has always run independently and is now looking for the right support to keep things running smoothly.
The ideal candidate is highly organized and intuitive with a calm presence, comfortable stepping into an established household rhythm with respect and patience. It is a strong plus if candidates have experience or understanding of Asian culture, and have a sound knowledge of when to step in and out. This family values their privacy, their independence, and their long-standing ways of doing things, so someone who can observe, learn, and manage tasks thoughtfully, rather than impose new systems, will be the best fit.
The family is motivated to find a meticulous and professional candidate for the long-term. They are happy to build the role around the right candidate, remaining flexible to setting the exact days and times that work best for the hired candidate, targeting between 15-30 hours a week, if desired. Remote hours offered for administrative tasks after an onboarding period.
Responsibilities
Provide light housekeeping support and help maintain the home's organized systems
Provide help with organizational projects such as closet and garage organization
Assist with meal preparation, including lunch, as requested
Provide hands-on help with small household tasks – swiffering the kitchen floor, cleaning up the breakfast table, unloading the dishwasher, doing laundry, changing linens, and breaking down boxes
Manage and coordinate household vendors, including researching and vetting new vendors as requested or needed
Set up and help manage low-touch services such as Uber, Instacart, and Amazon Fresh, and support the family in using them comfortably
Provide occasional driving support to appointments, especially in inclement weather
Run errands as requested – pharmacy pick-ups, processing online returns and exchanges, coordinating drop offs and pickups for repair of items, etc.
Offer light companionship and support with day-to-day tasks, including research requests, as the family adjusts to needing more help
Communicate regularly with the family's adult children, participating in periodic check-ins to discuss what's working and what may need to shift
Support the household and outdoor spaces, including its gardens and entertaining areas, in coordination with existing vendors
Help with everyday technology, such as setting up laptops and computers, troubleshooting audio or video on Zoom calls, and connecting Bluetooth devices.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience supporting aging clients as a Personal, Family, or Household Assistant
Highly organized, with an appreciation for structured systems and attention to detail
Gentle, patient, and intuitive, comfortable learning an established household's rhythm rather than dictating a new one
Trustworthy and discreet, with genuine respect for the family's privacy
Comfortable managing vendors and coordinating household logistics
Able to lift and carry moderately heavy items, including boxes and some furniture, and to move items up and down stairs between floors
Comfortable communicating with a broader family team, including adult children involved in care coordination
Comfortable with occasional driving
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Located within a commutable distance to Shoreline, Washington
Willing to undergo an in-depth background check and provide excellent references
Familiarity with Asian culture, customs, and homekeeping is a strong plus
